At the end of the school year I plan our trip back home to New Baltimore Michigan to see my family. While I was visiting with my sister this summer, she gave me an incomplete box of dominoes knowing that I could/would find something to do with them. When I got home, I Googled “altered dominoes” clicked images and a ton of inspiration popped up. The best thing about working with the dominoes is that I had so many I didn’t feel any guilt about trashing the ones that turned out like crap. Sometimes, I get in my modes where I am a bit afraid to try a new technique for the fear of wasting my supplies, which is a discussion for another day..lol
The picture above is what I came up with. This one was really quick and easy. Adirondack Ink was used to create the background, Sty’lines (for the flower) and little bit of Stickles was added to the leaves and center. I then used Glossy Accents to fill in the petals. For the back and edges, I used Krylons Silver Leafing Pen. After the domino was dry, it was given two good coats with a spray sealer. Ultimately, this domino was turned into a pendant. Which I wear all the time!
There are a lot of techniques that can be used on dominoes. My favorite being the alcohol inks and Copics. If you would like to find out more or even purchase some stamps made specifically for altered dominoes check out the link below.
